The Baltimore Orioles DFA'd Steve Trachsel and purchased infielder Oscar Salazar's contract from Triple-A Norfolk. Originally the Orioles moved Trachsel to the bullpen, but his lack of experience there made the Orioles decide it would be better to part ways.
Trachsel went 2-5 with an 8.39 ERA in 10 games this season, eight as a starter. As a reliever, he allowed four earned runs and eight hits in six innings. He also walked five and had no strikeouts. Trachsel is 37 years old and may be best served by retiring.
